As parents, our ultimate goal is to see our children step onto the right path—one that leads to security, self-reliance, and long-term success. But in today’s rapidly changing economy, the traditional “college-or-bust” map isn’t the only route anymore. Modern success requires a mix of preparation, discipline, and informed financial choices made early on.
If you are looking for a way to help your teenager or young adult (ages 16–24) gain real-world work ethic, cover their own personal upkeep, and start saving for a secure future, look no further than home. Right here in Chicago and the South Suburbs, the Save Our City, Save Our Future Pre-Apprenticeship Program (SOC-PAP) is helping families bridge the gap between youthful ambition and true financial independence.
Earn While You Learn: Teaching Financial Responsibility from Day One
One of the greatest gifts we can give the next generation is the dignity of earning their own way. Too often, young adults are stuck choosing between low-wage, dead-end summer jobs or sitting in classrooms without understanding how the real world operates.
Our ecosystem flips the script by offering a premium “earn-while-you-learn“ workforce model.
-
Steady Income: Participants earn a guaranteed $17.00 per hour, paid out weekly.
-
Personal Upkeep: This immediate earning power allows young adults to take financial responsibility for their own daily expenses, car notes, phone bills, and personal upkeep—taking the financial pressure off the household.
-
Smart Saving Habits: By earning a professional wage early, students learn the foundational rules of budgeting, tracking spending plans, and setting aside capital to fund their future investments.
Structured Mornings, Productive Afternoons
We know that routine breeds discipline. Our program is strictly structured as a part-time morning shift running Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
This schedule is highly intentional. It gets your child out of bed, into a professional environment, and learning from mentors during their most productive hours of the day. Because the shift ends at 1:00 PM, their afternoons and weekends remain completely free to balance family time, high school classes, or additional responsibilities.
Testing the Waters: A Multi-Industry Career Rotation
Many college students change their majors’ multiple times because they’ve never actually tried the work. In our pre-apprenticeship program, we don’t force youth to pick a lane blindly. Instead, they actively rotate through two powerful talent pipelines to see what clicks:
1. The Physical Building Trades Track
For the hands-on creator, this track builds operational site confidence, tool mastery, and safety consciousness across critical mechanical infrastructure fields:
-
Demolition & Site Preparation
-
Carpentry & Structural Framing
-
Electrical Routing & Plumbing Basics
-
Painting, Finishing, and HVAC Maintenance
2. Modern Business & Digital Entrepreneurship Tracks
For the future executive, content creator, or asset manager, we dive directly into commercial systems and business management pathways:
-
Media Marketing: Commercial scriptwriting, video production, and visual storytelling.
-
Custom Print & Apparel Production: Learning commercial graphics and manufacturing t-shirts, promotional items, and large-format banners.
-
Cosmetology & Childcare Business Management: Shifting the focus from simple labor to salon and daycare licensing, staffing, and operations.
-
Real Estate Investing: Demystifying property mechanics, deal sourcing, and asset management.
Moving Your Child Toward a High-Earning Future
The Save Our City, Save Our Future curriculum is designed to turn your child into a highly competitive, disciplined candidate for the region’s elite trade unions, corporate positions, and entrepreneurial networks.
By removing the financial barrier of tuition and replacing it with a steady paycheck, we are helping families across Cook and Will counties construct a firm financial foundation—one built on stability, opportunity, and generational wealth.
Stop dreaming and start planning. Help your child take ownership of their path, gain financial discipline, and rebuild their community from the ground up.
