Full Job Description

Are you ready to take pride in your work, give back to your community, and build a lasting career from the ground up? Save Our City, Save Our Future is looking for dedicated, hard-working youth to join our official Save Our City, Save Our Future Pre-Apprenticeship Program.

This is a focused, hands-on paid training pathway designed to introduce you to the construction industry, physical trades, and neighborhood revitalization projects. Rather than sticking to just one trade, you will rotate through multiple areas—building real job site experience, operational confidence, and clear career path options before transitioning into competitive union apprenticeships or full-time building careers.

What You Will Learn (Curriculum Focus)

  • Demolition & General Construction: Master fundamental site preparation, structural teardowns, and professional station setup (mise en place for the job site).

  • Carpentry & Framing: Learn the basics of lumber selection, structural measurements, layout lines, and power tool operations.

  • Electrical & Plumbing Basics: Gain a baseline understanding of safe low-voltage routing, fixture installations, and basic pipe fitting.

  • Painting & Finishing: Master surface preparation, patching, drywall finishing, and commercial painting techniques.

  • HVAC & Mechanical Exposure: Understand basic ventilation setups, filter replacements, and routine system troubleshooting protocols.

Benefits & Perks

  • Paid Weekly!

  • Guaranteed steady hourly pay ($17.00/hour).

  • Favorable morning schedule (Monday through Thursday), leaving your afternoons and weekends completely free.

  • Direct pipeline connections and preparation for competitive union trade entries.

Requirements

  • Technology: Must own and operate a modern smartphone capable of running mobile safety logs, check-ins, and program apps.

  • Physical Capability: Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs, work on your feet, and handle manual tools for the duration of the 4-hour shift.

  • Transportation: Reliable transportation to commute daily to designated neighborhood job sites, fabrication shops, and training hubs.

  • Background Screening: Pass a standard safety and background check for secure community project access.

Qualifications of an Ideal Candidate

  • Dependable & Punctual: You respect your crew, arriving boots-on-the-ground and ready to build at 9:00 AM sharp.

  • Strong Work Ethic: You have a desire to work with your hands, sweat a little, and see the immediate physical results of your labor.

  • Safety Conscious: Fully dedicated to following strict safety parameters, protecting your teammates, and wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Teachable & Resilient: You handle feedback well, listen closely to site foremen, and work efficiently in all indoor and outdoor weather conditions.

Join us as we collaborate to rebuild our city’s infrastructure, protect our neighborhoods, and shape the next generation of master tradespeople!
